AMC turns 54 – Lets Celebrate and Climb!

It is time for the Arizona Mountaineering Club’s 54th birthday bash! Please plan to join your fellow AMC members for a great day of climbing, catching up and celebrating in Sullivan’s Canyon. We’ll be spending the morning and early afternoon climbing and AMC will provide drinks and lunch. Then, let’s eat cake!!

All current AMC Members are invited to join in the celebration. This is a wonderful opportunity to climb, catch up with friends and celebrate the AMC that brought so many of us together over the years.

We’ll meet at the Safeway in Chino Valley at 8:30am. Sullivan’s Canyon is located in Chino valley and offers short, very fun climbs. The bottom of the canyon remains shaded most of the day and should offer some respite from the late spring sun. From Safeway, we’ll head to Sullivan’s canyon where we’ll distrubute gear and set up several climbs ranging from 5.5 to 5.11. Climbing is not mandatory and you may climb as little or as much as you like. However, having fun is imperative!

The approach to the climb is less than 5 minutes so feel free to bring comfortable shoes. However, the terrain is loose and uneven and we’ll be working near the edge of the canyon. Flip flops are not recommended.

Required Climbing gear: helmet, harness, shoes, personal anchor, belay device, autoblock. Please take pictures during your climb and share them on Meetup! We want to see everyone having a great time on the climbs.
IF YOU HAVE ANCHOR GEAR (CAMS, NUTS, HEXES) WE CAN USE THEM. – Make sure your gear is clearly marked for personal identification.

AMC will provide lunch: soda, water, sandwiches and cake. All you need to bring is yourself, chairs and a water bottle and/or camelback; cold water will be available in ice chests. Of course, feel free to bring your own beverages and food of choice. Please be considerate with your RSVP we need to know exact numbers to provide lunch supplies! Thank you!
