Four pitch sport climb near Ouray, Colorado.
If you can climb 5.10 in the gym, have completed Basic Class with Grad Climb, have multi-pitch experience, and are comfortable with exposure and high altitude, than this is for you. Altitude approx. 9000’msl.

We’ll meet at 7am at the Information Center parking lot, 1230 Main St, Ouray, Colorado.
We’ll decide on car pooling because of limited parking at the climb, and then continue driving about 20 minutes south of town and park. If parking area is full we’ll shuttle from town.

After descending a short hill we’ll hook up to three ropes for a short Tyrolean Traverse across Uncompahgre Creek, (don’t forget a small pulley). An additional 20 minutes uphill will get us to the base of the climb.

I have done this climb in three pitches before, but we’ll see how everyone is doing.
After some photos at the top we’ll all rappel to the base and hike back to the Tyrolean Traverse. Upon returning to the Information Center the outing is complete.
I plan on soaking at the hot springs pool for an hour or so. If you plan on joining me don’t forget your swimming suit and towel.

Plenty of motels in Ouray, and there is a KOA as well. If you plan on camping on your own try Yankee Boy Basin. Map: Trails Illustrated #141, Telluride, Silverton, Ouray, Lake City.

Equipment: Harness, climbing and approach shoes, belay/rappel device, autoblock, gloves, small pulley, helmet, sunglasses, prussiks, extra lockers, clothing layers, water, food, and anything else that will make you comfortable when August temps in Ouray are between 40/75f.
You will need to carry your own personal 60m rope in good condition, and all gear, so bring a large pack to accommodate this.

Attendee list is at the sole discretion of the outing leaders all of whom are volunteers. You will be an active team member. This is not a guided tour.
I am not a guide, and there are no guides on this outing. Participants will be chosen based on technical experience.
