GET OUT AND VOTE! • The January member meeting features the Annual Election and AMC Member Climbing Presentations featuring climbs in the McDowells, Queen Creek (Lower Devils and the Refuge), Jacks Canyon and Prescott.
• In order to vote in the club elections and participate in the photo contest please make sure you have paid your 2018 member dues at or before the January meeting. Our AMC member presenters are as follows:
• David Arthur Sampson presents Queen Creek Climbing/Lower Devils and the Refuge/Jacks Canyon- From November to March one can find much climbing in Lower Devils Canyon (including Hackberry Creek) and in the Refuge. Additionally, you can climb at Jacks Canyon year-round, although he personally thinks that the best climbing season there is from about October to March (or so). In his short presentation, he will provide some helpful hints on where the best climbing is based on the time of day and the day of year. Sampson will touch on the more “traveled” climbs in all three locals.
• McDowell Rock guidebook authors Erik Filsinger and Cheryl Beaver will present an overview of some of the “hidden gems” in the McDowells. In line with the questions Erik has received over the past several years, Erik and Cheryl will showcase some of the numerous “top-ropeable” climbs, as well as provide some selected information on routes of various grades that most climbers probably don’t know about. This information is generally not available elsewhere!
John Sasso – Prescott is a beautiful little town loaded with granite, not to mention a colorful climbing history. Prescott has a substantial list of quality routes, both trad and sport, old school and new. Sasso will share some gems that he has been exploring and working this past year.
