Let’s spend a day in the scenic Watson Lake area! We’ll be climbing at the Pavillion wall. A mostly sunny wall with stunning views of the lake and only 2 minutes from the parking lot. The wall has several fun crack and face climbs ranging from 5.4-5.10. Climbs all average about 60 feet in length. This is a great event for beginner and intermediate climbers.
Once we’re at the crag we’ll have a basic safety meeting and technique review( if needed). We’ll be setting up our own anchors and anyone who’s taking the anchors class is welcome to help out.
There are eight spots for this event.
This is an official AMC outing and all participants must be current with dues. All individuals RSVP’ing will be first sent to the waitlist until membership is confirmed.
The plan: We’ll meet In the south East corner of the Fry’s parking lot, near Starbucks, on Dove valley Road east of I-17 at 7:00am (NW corner of Dove Valley and 27th ave). From there we’ll carpool to Prescott/ Watson lake. Be advised that there is a park entrance fee of 3$ CASH (per vehicle) to enter the park. We’ll set up and spend the afternoon climbing.
What to bring:
1. All personal climbing gear including helmet, harness, shoes, and belay device. You will not be allowed to climb without a helmet.
2. Appropriate layers for weather. The crag is sunny but the wall itself is often shady. So bring layers to Dress up/down as needed. I’ll keep an eye on weather and update the group as the date nears.
3. Lunch, snacks, and water. Because this crag is so close to the car feel free to bring a small cooler or extra bag for your lunch.
4. A camera. Watson lake and the climbing provides ample opportunity for great photos.
5. Any shoe is fine fo the approach.
