South Crack (5.5) | Offical AMC Outing

Join us as we climb this iconic landmark with great views of the valley. Great introduction to crack and chimneying techniques. 5 climbers, not including outing leaders, max on this outing. The approach to this climb is short (approx. 30 minutes), on a combination of well- maintained hiker’s trail, and less apparent climber’s approach trail. The Pinnacle Peak park trailhead is equipped with restrooms and drinking fountains.

When: we’ll meet at Pinnacle peak trailhead at 8:00am. The parking lot can fill up quickly but there is additional parking on the road below the parking lot. Please be mindful not to park in no parking zones.

Skills required for this climb:
Basic knots
Basic rappel technique
Basic climbing calls
Familiarity with removing protection

Please Bring: food, plenty of water, gloves, approach shoes, cool clothing, sun screen, helmet, harness, personal anchor system, climbing shoes, belay device, and whatever else you may need to stay comfortable for the day.
