The Monk (5.6) | Offical AMC Outing

The East Face of the Praying Monk is a classic climb on Camelback Mountain with a spectacular view of Phoenix from the top. It is two single pitches (the headwall and the Monk itself), followed by two rappels. https://www.mountainproject.com/route/105801358/east-face

Attendees:
Priority given to recent AMC Basic School grads. WAITLIST – When you RSVP, you’ll be asked for your full name, email, and phone number and assigned to the waitlist. Once your AMC membership is verified, you will be added as an attendee on a first-come first-served basis until the group limit of six is reached. Attendee list is at the sole discretion of the outing leader. You will be an active team member. This is not a guided tour. You will need to carry rope and gear, so bring an appropriate pack to accommodate this.

Approach:
10-minute hike from the Echo Canyon parking lot.

Please bring: snacks, plenty of water, climbing shoes, helmet, harness, belay/rappel device, extra locking carabiners, prusiks, autoblock, day pack, personal anchor, approach shoes, emergency gear and whatever else you may need to stay comfortable for the day. Please be prepared for any type of weather including rain and heavy winds.
Suggested: head lamp, waterproof wind shell, snacks, sun screen, hat
